Four Questions to Ask Your Dog Groomer

If you’re considering having your dog groomed by a pet groomer, you probably have some questions you would like answered. In this post, we will discuss four questions you should be sure you ask before you make a decision. Of course, if you have additional questions, you should ask those, as well!

How much grooming experience do you have? As with anything, you want to be sure you’re working with someone with experience.  However, it is important to also consider skill and not just length of experience. Most professional groomers will have a portfolio you can look at so you can get a good idea of their skill level and what their strengths are.

Can I see your grooming salon? Most people want to see the space in which their dog is being groomed. You should ask yourself these following questions…. Is the environment safe?  Does it smell and look clean?  Are other dogs loose and running free?  If so, you may want to consider a new grooming salon.  Cleanliness is important at limiting diseases transmitted from one dog to another.  Clippers, brushes, general overall cleanliness should be a priority.  If dogs are running loose, that may spell a disaster.  If the groomer is busy grooming dogs, they are not able to supervise and dogs can get hurt by biting or rough housing.  Besides, you just paid to have your dog professionally groomed and there goes that lean fresh look!
