Meet the Groomer
Hello! Let me introduce myself – My name is Mary Munson and I am the owner and groomer of Wags to Riches Pet Spa located in Houghton Lake.
The photo is of my husband Rick, myself and our two dogs, Cissy (in my arms) and Molly (sitting at our feet). We are new to Houghton Lake, but not new to the area as I grew up in Grayling and have always called Northern Michigan my home. We decided to relocate to Houghton Lake last summer as we enjoyed the slower pace and spending time with friends and family in the area. When we moved here it was the plan for me to semi-retire, but after being here for a few months I found I missed running my own salon and caring for pets, so I decided to open up Wags to Riches Pet Spa and bring my experience and love for grooming to the area.
My Grooming Experience – I studied to become a groomer at the Paragon School of Pet Grooming in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2003. The following year, I opened my own grooming salon in Douglas, Michigan called Dogs by Design that I successfully ran for 13 years. In 2016, I sold my salon and purchased a mobile grooming van – where Wash and Roll Mobile Grooming began. I traveled from home to home in the Holland area and offered a one-on-one service that my customers loved. In 2019 I also started working part-time as an instructor for the Paragon School of Pet Grooming. I really enjoyed mentoring the grooming students and teaching them the skills I had learned over the past 16 years. Over time, I found that juggling the mobile business and working as an instructor became to much and I then refocused soley on the mobile business.
My husband Rick, who you will find in the salon once in a while, will sometimes help me dry, help hold a dog or take care of keeping things maintained, enjoys giving the pets attention and making their time getting groomed enjoyable and feeling pampered.
We are both excited to provide a grooming service like no other in the area. You will find a clean, quiet, low stress salon where your pet is our priority and it is our goal to make them feel welcomed and relaxed. Come check it out yourself!
